We Danced
We were dancing through different rooms
Me in yours
Yours in mine.
Rhythms knotted as your gaze danced on the top of my head
Laughter and sometimes tears
You would tap your toes into rooms first and twirl through the corners
Through the tempos you weaved yourself through the music
And when your eyes would catch mine you would call me
To join the dance.
We danced through the darkness through the light
We danced through the showers of sunlight and rays of rain
We danced through all the rooms and then we would start again
We danced.
Until you stopped.
Right in front of a wooden door carved with songs of praise
Your praise.
You twisted the knob and went through, dancing.
Dancing in a room I am too scared to enter
Dancing in a room I no longer fear being summoned to
Because I know the songs, I know the moves
And finally I’ll be able to dance with you.
